HUD funding gets Senate boost

June 9, 2014: The Senate Appropriations Committee on June 5 approved a fiscal year 2015 bill to fund the Departments of Transportation, HUD and several smaller agencies. HUD programs mostly were funded at higher levels than in the House T-HUD bill for 2015 (which is being debated on the House floor starting June 8). The Senate bill keeps many program at 2014 levels or at the Obama budget’s request level. Cut sharply to $700 million in the House, HOME is at $950 million in the Senate bill. Section 201 housing for the elderly gets a substantial increase. Details are in the table below. The Senate bill and the accompanying legislative report are available at https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/hearings-and-testimony/full-committee-markup-fy15-cjs-and-thud.
