American Legion launches pilot program to employ veterans on Northeast farms

Putting Unemployed Veterans on Northeast Dairy Farms – A Pilot Project

Seven Agri-Mark farms have announced their participation in a pilot program to train, pay and house veterans willing in the rural northeast as part of a pilot program in collaboration with the American Legion. Veterans employed through this program have an opportunity for meaningful work that the farmers hope makes a difference in their lives. If the pilot program proves feasible, Cabot Creamery and the American Legion intend to develop a web-based portal that will allow farmers anywhere in the US to post their jobs and veterans anywhere to apply and or post their willingness to work based on job assignment, geography or farm type preference.

For more information, read the complete description of the pilot program.
