The Housing Assistance Council and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, New York Regional Office invite you to participate in Business Planning for CHDOs and Nonprofits on September 14-15, in Rochester, NY.

Business Planning for CHDOs and Nonprofits provides staff of established and emerging CHDOs the tools and information necessary to develop a business plan. Participants will learn to utilize practical tools to institute an organizational planning process and develop a sound business plan. Learn how to analyze a market, develop organization and financial plans, develop a market strategy, and conduct a risk analysis.

This training is being offered through HAC’s Building Rural Communities through CHDOs Initiative.

Due to funding restrictions this training is limited to staff of certified and potential CHDOs in New York State. Additionally, participants are required to register in advance for this event.

SINGLE FAMILY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

The Housing Assistance Council and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, San Antonio Field Office invite you to participate in Single Family Housing Development on July 20-21, in Laredo, TX.

This workshop will provide participants with important information on financing and developing affordable single-family housing. Participants will examine the overall assumptions, risks, procedures, financial considerations, site planning, construction, and development issues inherent to affordable single-family housing development. Equally important to a successfully designed and implemented program is the homebuyer preparation process. This program will cover the issues related to designing and marketing a product that leads to eligible and pre-qualified homebuyer pools.

This training is being offered through HAC’s Building Rural Communities through CHDOs Initiative.

Green Building Symposium Resources

GREEN BUILDING/HEALTHY HOMES INITIATIVE

On June 9, 2010, the Housing Assistance Council and The Home Depot Foundation hosted Building Green in Rural America: A Symposium on Policy and Practice in the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington, DC. The symposium brought together successful community-based green practitioners from across the country with other national experts and federal agency staff. Nearly 70 participants heard from Congressional leaders in green building, including Representatives John W. Olver (MA) and Rubén Hinjosa (TX).

Mark your calendars and make plans to attend NACEDA’s 2010 Summit, which will be held March 23-25 at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Washington, DC.  The 2010 program will feature a joint lobbying day with the National NeighborWorks Association on Capitol Hill on March 23, and the two-day NACEDA conference in the DoubleTree Hotel on March 24 and 25.  Possible session topics include:
