Research and Information
Shawn Poynter/ There Is More Work To Be Done
Every year USDA compiles data on its multifamily housing tenants for a “Fair Housing Occupancy Report.” The information provides an interesting snapshot, showing the number of units in the agency’s portfolio and the tenants’ characteristics, from annual income to household size to age and disability.
Each report consists of a short narrative and many pages of tables. Note that there are three – or sometimes four – pages for each type of information. The first page is for tenants in both Section 515 rental housing and Section 514/516 farmworker housing. The second page covers Section 515 tenants only, and the third is for Section 514/516 tenants only. Where there is a fourth page, it shows data for tenants receiving Section 521 Rental Assistance.
