The article highlights the challenges faced by rural Americans in finding good quality and affordable housing. Author Gillian B. White points to a lack of knowledge about these issues on the part of the general public and decreasing federal funding as contributing factors.
The article references HAC’s Rural Data Portal and quotes Director of Research and Information, Lance George on the subject of manufactured housing in rural areas. Manufactured housing is a lower-cost alternative to owning a traditional home in many rural areas.
