The Census Bureau provides access to both the decennial Census data and interim population and housing estimates.

Community Connections – Community Connections is the Information Center of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD’s) Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD). The Center provides its users with copies of program regulations, descriptions of model programs, case studies of affordable housing initiatives, publications on expanding affordable housing opportunities, funding information, training and conference announcements, and referrals to technical assistance providers. Department of Veterans Affairs Home Loans – Information on the Department of Veterans Affairs Home Loan Program

Opportunity Zones – Opportunity Zones are an economic development tool that allows people to invest in distressed areas in the United States. Their purpose is to spur economic growth and job creation in low-income communities while providing tax benefits to investors.

Federal Register – Federal agencies publish proposed rules, final regulations, Notices of Funding Availability, Requests for Proposals, etc. in the Federal Register.

Health and Human Services (Department of) – Provides Electronic Public Service Announcements (EPSAs), news items, Healthfinder & Human Services information, information about HHS’s Research, Policy and Administration, and links to partners and state agencies.

Housing and Urban Development (Department of) – Provides information about and access to HUD offices, programs, initiatives, and staff.

Housing Counseling Clearinghouse – Provides information about housing counseling and HUD-approved housing counseling agencies, including a searchable database of agencies by state.

HUD User – The primary source for Federal Government reports and information on housing policy and programs, building technology, economic development, urban planning, and other housing-related topics. HUD USER also creates and distributes a wide variety of useful information products and services that are accessible via the web site.

Library of Congress – Provides access to the Library’s catalogues, exhibits, and databases. Also sections that deal with resources for researchers and information professionals, including the catalogues of other libraries, databases on special topics, other Library of Congress Internet resources and access to Thomas legislative information (see link below).

USDA Rural Development – Rural Development is an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Its purpose is to improve the economy and quality of life in rural America. Its programs provide technical assistance, information, grants and loans for public facilities and services in rural areas. The site provides access to program information, regulations, unnumbered letters, administrative notices, etc. See also: Rural Housing Service.

Rural Housing and Economic Development Gateway (a HUD program) – The Rural Housing and Economic Development Gateway is an information clearinghouse providing technical assistance, training, and information resources to support rural housing and economic development.

Thomas – The Library of Congress’ website for information on the U.S. Congress. Includes description of the legislative process; committee documents and schedules; bill summaries, text, history, and schedules; the Congressional Record; and links to other congressional websites.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) – Federal programs for agriculture and rural areas.
