Property Management for Scattered Site Rental Housing

Start: October 20, 2010
End: October 21, 2010
Location: Kansas City, MO

The Housing Assistance Council and the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, Kansas City Regional Office invite you to participate in Property Management for Scattered Site Rental Housing on October 20-21, in Kansas City, MO.

Managing Scattered Site Housing and small scale rental properties poses unique and difficult challenges to the affordable housing owner. A portfolio of small properties requires the owner to possess or obtain special property management skills. Management will not have the advantages of on‐site property management staff or the economies of scale a multiple‐unit building provides. This course is designed to help the participant identify ways of mobilizing and adapting management operation to monitor the operational performance of a scattered‐site real estate portfolio effectively. Special considerations will cover the specifics of managing HOME funded properties with ownership through CHDOs.

Through case study analysis and discussion of best practices, participants will learn to identify and examine the different property management options available to best meet their organization’s needs. Approaches to keep such housing stock healthy and energy efficient will be addressed.

This training is being offered through HAC's Building Rural Communities through CHDOs Initiative.

Due to funding restrictions this training is limited to staff of certified and potential CHDOs in Kansas and Missouri. Additionally, participants are required to register in advance for this event.
