Section 515 Rural Rental Housing Prepayment, By State, FY 06 – 12

USDA's Section 515 loan program provides more than 400,000 decent, affordable rental homes for rural Americans with low incomes. Under current law, owners of projects that received Section 515 loans prior to 1989 can request prepayment of the loan balances and convert the projects to market-rate housing, albeit with some restrictions designed to encourage affordable housing preservation. Owners of projects that received loans prior to 1979 can generally request prepayment of a Section 515 loan at any time.
