SUMMARY:WaterSense Labeled Homes Version 2.0
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nRecording\n\nMaterials\nPowerPoint Presentation | Webinar Transcript \nDescription\n\n\nThe WaterSense Labeled Homes program offers a building science approach on water efficiency within single and multi-family homes. \nGreen building has grown from a niche market to a savvy business strategy. WaterSense labeled homes meet consumers’ demand for a whole-house solution to help them save water\, energy\, and money while maintaining a high level of performance. Compared to a typical home\, on average\, a WaterSense labeled home can save a family 50\,000 gallons of water a year or more. \nThis webinar will provide the specifics of how WaterSense labeled homes must achieve at least 30 percent more water efficiency than typical new construction. Under the Homes Certification System\, they are verified and certified to meet EPA’s Mandatory Checklist and achieve EPA’s water efficiency criteria. We will discuss the program’s new flexibilities and participation by new stakeholder groups such as Home Certification Organizations (HCO) which uses its own WaterSense Approved Certification Method (WACM) to measure water efficiency. We will also discuss the new flexibilities in the technical requirements expanding from options of indoor water efficiency to regionally appropriate outdoor water efficient systems and practices and how when paired with the mandatory checklist\, the requirements of the WACM ensure that a WaterSense labeled home is both water-efficient\, and high-performing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAudience\n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is intended for builders\, designers and any others interested in increasing water efficiency within the residential sector. \nPrior Knowledge\nUnderstanding of green building practices and the process of certification may be useful but not necessary. \nLearning Objectives\n\nLearning Objective 1: Learn about the added flexibility in certification\nLearning Objective 2: Understand Mandatory requirements\nLearning Objective 3: Identify opportunities for regional differentiation and national flexibility.\nLearning Objective 4: Learn about best practices and how they can impact water savings.\n\nSpeakers\n \nOlga M. SUMMARY:Pathfinders: Climate-Smart Solutions from Rural America and Native Nations
DESCRIPTION:Drought and wildfire in the West\, rising seas and erosion in the Mississippi River Delta\, and erratic weather patterns throughout the entire country are destabilizing rural and Tribal economies and quality of life. These climate impacts are worsening the already disproportionate burdens placed on rural people and Native Nations because of a history of disinvestment and extractive natural-resource industry practices. In the face of these simultaneous global and hyper-local challenges\, rural America and Native nations are essential partners in forging a different future. \nJoin us on July 16 at 1:30 PM ET to hear stories and glean practical tips from rural regions that are leading the way to this better future through climate-smart innovations. These pathfinders are also addressing key power-shifting challenges along the way: How can our transition to cleaner energy economies that reduce carbon emissions also strengthen community by engaging Native nations and rural communities of color? How can rural organizations build and retrofit more energy-efficient homes and offer new community energy options intentionally designed to build more financial stability for low-wealth people? How can rural climate-smart resilience efforts give those people with local and Indigenous knowledge who are most affected by planning decisions a voice in the planning process? Come explore how rural America is an essential partner in addressing climate change – and a source for innovative environmental justice initiatives that provide inspiration and useful ideas for the entire country. \nRegister Now

SUMMARY:Strategies for Achieving Energy Efficient\, Affordable Housing
DESCRIPTION:Watch the Webinar Recording\n\n\n\n\nAdditional Materials\n\n\n\nPowerPoint Presentation\n\n\nWebinar Transcript\n\n\n\n\nAccording to the Energy Information Administration\, nearly one-third of households experience some type of energy insecurity over the course of a year. Energy insecurity describes the interplay of the physical conditions of housing\, household energy expenditures and energy-related coping strategies. It disproportionately impacts low-income households as they pay higher proportions of their income to electric and gas bills and will often set thermostats to unsafe levels to reduce energy costs. \nThis is why energy efficient construction practices are so important for providing safe\, comfortable and cost-effective housing options. Come to this webinar to gain insight into energy efficient construction practices\, including how to maximize energy efficiency while keeping costs in check. Learn the role of Home Energy Raters in the design and construction process and see the specifications for homes that are achieving varying levels of energy efficiency. Finally\, you will see what it takes to achieve a net-zero home—one that produces as much energy as it uses on an annual basis. \n\n\n\n  \n  \n\n\n\nSpeakers\nRyan Meres\nProgram Director\nRESNET
