SUMMARY:A Practitioner’s Guide to Energy Star 3.0: Thermal Enclosure System Rater Checklist (Part A)
DESCRIPTION:Materials Posted\nWebinar Recording | Power Point Presentation | Part B \nAll homes permitted after January 1\, 2012 seeking ENERGY STAR Version 3.0 rating must meet ENERGY STAR Version 3.0 standards.  Verification partners\, including HERS raters and Field Inspectors\, must complete ENERGY STAR Version 3 Rater Training through an Accredited Training Provider in order to service and/or inspect homes that seek ENERGY STAR Version 3.0 rating.  There are two paths to certify a home to earn the ENERGY STAR. The Prescriptive Path is based on a predefined package of improvements\, while the Performance Path is based on a customized package of upgrades. The National Program Requirements define the core energy efficiency specifications for both the Prescriptive and Performance Paths.

SUMMARY:Non-HAC: Understanding Housing Needs in Your Community Using Data from the American Community Survey
DESCRIPTION:The National Housing Conference will host this webinar. \nThe American Community Survey (ACS) can be a great source of data for analyzing housing needs in your community. Sometimes\, however\, finding the right information using the Census Bureau’s American FactFinder can be complicated. And once you’ve found the data\, it is sometimes a challenge to figure out how to present the data effectively. This webinar will demonstrate how to find local demographic and housing data from the ACS and will provide guidance for effective ways to present the data to describe housing affordability and needs. During the webinar\, we will develop an example needs analysis using ACS data. In addition\, there will be a hands-on portion of the webinar where participants will gather data for their own community and begin to analyze their own housing needs. By the end of the webinar\, participants will have gained knowledge about the population and housing data available from the ACS and will have expertise in accessing and presenting ACS data for their city\, county or neighborhood.

SUMMARY:National Rural Housing Conference 2014 - Day 3
DESCRIPTION:The biennial National Rural Housing Conference brings together stakeholders in the field of rural affordable housing from local nonprofits\, federal agencies\, Congress\, state and local governments\, and other industry leaders for two-and-a-half days of training\, discussion\, and networking. The Conference features nearly 40 workshops where participants will learn best practices for housing development\, organizational management\, resource development\, and innovative approaches to housing and community development. The Conference also includes a pre-Conference day\, packed with gatherings for coalitions\, association\, and working groups. \nFor rural nonprofits\, the Conference provides an excellent opportunity to network and improve  connections to federal agencies and national nonprofit organizations. For many of the attendees\, this conference represents their sole opportunity during the year to connect with these important policy makers and experts. \n \nRetool\, Rebuild\, Renew\nThis year’s conference theme is Retool\, Rebuild\, Renew. Although these verbs could describe the construction or rehab of housing\, the theme is not about bricks and mortar. It’s about our movement. The rural housing network has a proud history of accomplishment and has empowered\, improved\, and made lasting impacts across rural America. However\, for a number of years\, we have been in a defensive posture-the support and resources necessary for our network have been threatened. It is past time to shift from a reactive to a proactive posture. It is time go on the offensive and retool our collective talents\, rebuild the innovative spirit that got us where we are\, and renew our passion for the mission that guides us. HAC’s National Rural Housing Conference will help get us back on track to expand the accomplishments of the past. \nBook Your Room Now\nNew to our conference and not sure what to expect? Attended the last conference and can’t remember the name of that one speaker? Review the materials from the 2012 National Rural Housing Conference. \nSubmit a nomination for the Rural Housing Awards.

SUMMARY:Eradicating Substandard Manufactured Homes: Replacement Programs as a Strategy
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nToday’s manufactured housing industry has made high quality\, energy efficient homes affordable to millions of Americans and is a promising partner for non-profit developers. Some of the most exciting partnerships involve replacement programs\, which seek to replace older\, substandard manufactured homes with new state-of-the-art units. SUMMARY:From Service to Shelter: Housing Veterans in Rural America
DESCRIPTION:Materials Posted\nPower Point Presentation  |  Webinar Recording \nThe Housing Assistance Council (HAC) is pleased to invite you to participate in a webinar on demographic changes regarding veterans in rural America. As two wars overseas wind down\, more veterans will be coming home\, while at the same time the demographic changes associated with the baby boom generation and the overall greying of America will also impact veteran’s needs in rural America. In the next ten years\, over 70 percent of all veterans in rural America will be over the age of 65 placing increased pressure on the housing and health needs of rural veterans. \nOn the opposite end of the age spectrum\, younger veterans\, returning from Iraq or Afghanistan\, are more diverse and face different economic and housing challenges. Although these veterans comprise just 7.6 percent of the total rural veteran population\, they are more diverse and face different economic and housing challenges than their older counterparts. Minority and female veterans are a much larger segment of this population as well and maintain differing needs than older veterans. Beyond this\, younger veterans face higher unemployment and poverty rates than older veterans. Approximately 10 percent of veterans between the ages of 18 to 34 are unemployed and 12 percent have incomes below the poverty line. \nFor their sacrifice\, it is imperative that all veterans have access to safe\, affordable\, and secure housing. This can be particularly challenging in rural America due to vast geographies\, limited resources\, and less social service infrastructure. Join the Housing Assistance Council’s webinar on June 25th to learn more about these challenges as well as the demographic shifts reported on in HAC’s new publication From Service to Shelter and the implications that these realities will have on providing affordable and appropriate housing to rural veterans. \nThis webinar is supported by The Home Depot Foundation. For more information\, please email Janice Clark at janice@ruralhome.org. \nRegister Now! https://ruralhome.adobeconnect.com/e7t536khd3s/event/event_info.html.
