DESCRIPTION:The Supportive Housing Providers Association (SHPA)  along with the Illinois Office to Prevent and End Homelessness and the Housing Assistance Council are partnering to develop strategies and solutions to end homelessness in rural Illinois. \nWE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!\nListening Session on Rural Homelessness\nThe listening session will solicit community\, stakeholder\, and expert feedback on the issue of homelessness in rural Illinois. The listening session will take place on April 13th\, 2023 from 10:30AM-3:00PM CT at the Parke Regency Hotel & Conference Center in Bloomington\, IL. A virtual option is available for those who are unable to attend the in-person event. Registration is required to attend the event. \nSHPA is offering a $25 stipend (gift card) for each person of Lived Expertise of homelessness who participates in-person at the listening session. \nAbout The Project\nAll communities and residents\, regardless of location\, should have access to a continuum of housing options including resources to prevent and eliminate rural homelessness. \nHomelessness and housing related issues manifest differently in rural environments. Highly effective urban solutions aimed at homelessness too often falter in rural America\, where service provision is different and those who are homeless are often less conspicuous\, but no less in need of assistance. \nThe State of Illinois has recognized the importance and unique nature of addressing homelessness in rural communities of their state and committed resources and efforts to help end homelessness in rural Illinois. \nThe Supportive Housing Providers Association (SHPA)\, the Illinois Department of Human Services and the Housing Assistance Council are undertaking a data and information collection effort that will help inform strategies\, solutions\, and policies\, that will eliminate homelessness in rural Illinois. \nWho Should Register?\nCommunity\, Stakeholder\, and Expert Input. To help inform the development of strategies and recommendations\, the project will solicit community\, stakeholder and expert perspectives on the prevalence\, characteristics\, and dynamics of homelessness in rural Illinois. \nPersons of Lived Expertise of Homelessness. DESCRIPTION:Description\nThis three-day advanced course will cover USDA Rural Development’s Section 502 direct loan program and provide invaluable insight as to how this homeownership financing resource can be utilized in your communities. Learn how your organization can assist potential borrowers and work in partnership with RD staff in your state to deliver successful Section 502 loan packages. Through the course\, designed for those experienced in using Section 502\, participants will learn the regulations and practical applications of the loan program. Participants will develop a strong understanding of 502 direct underwriting and packaging standards\, which will ensure that submitted loan dockets are complete and accessible for processing. \nA laptop is required for the class. \nFollowing the course\, participants are encouraged to take the online certification exam. \nTrainers\nVickey Stratton\, Housing Specialist\nHousing Assistance Council \nSonya H. Evans\, Finance and Loan Analyst Single Family Housing Direct Loan Origination Branch\nUSDA Rural Development \nRegistration Fee\nRegistration fee is $750. Payment is required at registration. \nEligible Attendees\nThis course is intended for and specifically framed for those experienced in utilizing Section 502 and/or other affordable housing mortgage products. Prior to registering for the training\, please review this decision tree to be sure that you have the required experience and tools to get the most out of this training. \nThis training is limited to 30 participants. Any unexcused absence (30 minutes cumulative) throughout the course and/or lack of participation will disqualify the participant from receiving a Certificate of Completion and disqualify the Online Exam results\, as this is only for those who have completed the course. The training agency is not responsible for notifying participants of their disqualification due to absences and lack of participation until after the completion of the course. \nPayment Options\nOnce you submit your registration information you will be forwarded to the Stripe payment page.  Your registration is not completed until payment is submitted.
